Don't be a Dee Dee Dee, Go to Church!

Today on Yahoo there's an article linking student's church-going to higher GPA's. "Church Attendance Boosts Student GPA's." Author Robert Roy Britt of LiveScience.com writes:

The study does not suggest God is smiling on the students, per se. Rather, it identifies several reasons the students do better:

• They have regular contact with adults from various generations who serve as role models.
• Their parents are more likely to communicate with their friends' parents.
• They develop friendships with peers who have similar norms and values.
• They're more likely to participate in extracurricular activities.

There you go folks, get'em to church!

Holographic Pastors?

Today on the front page of msn.com is an article called, "Churches start to use hologram pastors" click the link to read up. In short it talks about how mega churches around the country are starting to implement 3D holograms of their pastors in multiple locations around the country to reach more people. The article is appropriately titled, "The Chick-fil-A Church." Why in the world would you want to replace yourself with a video projected preacher to the masses? Yes it would definately draw a crowd but how can a hologram embrace a member? Can it hold a conversation with someone who needs to desperately talk to their pastor?

Besides my objections the book of John immediately comes to mind: John 1:1 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:14 - The Word became FLESH and made his dwelling among us..."

Why would God choose to become flesh? Would it be so we could see Him cry, to hear Him speak, to feel His embrace, or to look Him in the eye? As Christians we should model His ministry, His chosen ministry of presence.

I'm calling a flag on the play preachers! People need you in the flesh!

No TV, video games for girls who trashed home

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Chick-fil-A restaurant founder S. Truett Cathy has decided two girls accused of causing $30,000 in damage to his home should be punished with a writing assignment instead of charges.

In a deal Cathy worked out with their parents, the girls must write "I will not vandalize other people's property" 1,000 times. They're also banned from watching TV and playing video games and must read a good book.

New Smyrna Beach police told the Daytona Beach News-Journal the preteens broke into Cathy's home two weeks ago and sprayed fire extinguishers, threw eggs and left water running in the kitchen.

The 87-year-old Cathy — who founded the fast food chain known for its cow billboards — said he didn't want to prosecute the girls and leave them with a criminal record.

In other news Chick-fil-A scored a solid "A" for healthiest chain restaraunt by Yahoo today followed by Subway with an "A-". Go Chick-fil-A! Who's hungry!?

If you been waiting to go to the Apple store for a shiny new toy...i mean productivity device, wait a little longer. In the next couple of months Apple will sell their last remaining products on their shelves to make room for new products "Coming Soon!" Its Apple, so don't expect details on anything. Just wait. Rumors are flying about a new laptop, updated iphone touch (an external speaker would be nice), and updated nano. I'm so glad my birthday is in November!
The pic above is the Apple store in Tokyo. It brings back alot of memories. That bad boy is 5 stories full of Apple goodies. Yes everything writtin is in Japanese, even the products you buy, but you just have to get the employees to switch the software to english and you're good to go! Tokyo was 45 minutes away but worth it once we were inside.
