New Nano?
Gizmodo.com posted this pic from Macnn.com as a "spy pic" of the new Ipod Nano to be introduced on Tuesday. I always thought that watching anything on the nano's screen was really a strain. Word on the street is there's a new Ipod Touch around the corner as well with a leaner price tag!
...In other news there's a big storm outside!

My Generation
Why I'm in the military...
There's an article on Wired.com called, "Military Eyes Football Helmets for Battlefield Protection"
The Army has apparently turned to the football helmet experts for advice on improving battlefield helmets. I must say that today's helmets are not comfy at all, but it served its purpose and I felt protected when I wore it. By all means, bring on the football helmets! Go Cowboys!
Dad's Cab
If you’re the father of a 15-year-old social butterfly like I am, you’ll understand the brilliant concept behind Dad’s Cab ($18). This realistic taxi meter makes you feel like a New York cabbie, counting up the hours you spend carting around that little darling and all her friends, and then lets you present your giggling clients with a bill at the end of the revelry.
Unless you can find yourself a robot cab somewhere, this might just do the trick in the meantime. Simply stick this meter onto your car’s dashboard with the included adhesive strips, and when you’re done with your daily chauffeuring chores, hand over one of the official Dad’s Cab printed cards demanding payments such as cleaning your room, fetching me a beer, and other useful tasks.
You mean these dime store Cleopatras can actually make themselves useful? You bet. Teach them the barter system, and give them a clue about how the real world works.

Nice job...just missed.
I recently recieved an email about the Navy looking for an RP2 (that would be my rank) or an RP1 to fill a "once in a lifetime" spot at Camp David aka "The President's Retreat." So I naturally was interested right away! Who wouldn't want to go work there! Its not too far from where we live right now anyway! I called up to see if I'd qualify for the application process (which was noted as being very rigorous), but unfortunately I don't. I would've had to have been coming from sea duty (a ship) to take orders to Camp David, and I'm currently on shore duty (President's Hospital). Booo! Oh well. There's always a next time for a "once in a lifetime opportunity" right?

No more mouse, no more keyboard!
Wired.com posts an article citing Jeff Han, "We're Just Scratching the Surface of Multitouch." Its a pretty interesting article that would be worth remembering in the future when we're using computers without a mouse and a keyboard! The technology is here. There's touch screens on computers, on monitors in various business, on phones...its only a matter of time before they're streamlined on every computer. So make peace with your mouse and keyboard.

Woman Gave Birth to Own Granddaughter
A 61-year-old woman in Japan has just given birth … to her own granddaughter!
The unnamed woman, who is now thought to hold the record as the oldest Japanese woman ever to give birth successfully, undertook the controversial treatment at the Suwa Maternity Clinic – an institution that has already sparked fierce debate over the rights and wrongs of surrogate motherhood. [...]
Yesterday’s successful treatment involved the woman having her daughter’s already fertilized egg implanted in her womb. The entire family is understood to have agreed to undergo the process, despite its difficulties, because the woman’s daughter was born without ovaries and unlike many young women in Japan, was keen to have children.

Running
Today I started running again. I like to run, but its not so fun to pick up after 2 weeks of solid vacation. Yes, I could've ran during vacation...but that wouldn't feel like vacation so much. My goal is to run 3 miles in 20 minutes. Right now I can do 1.5 mi. in around 12 minutes and some change...on a good day...with some Red Bull! j/k

Don't be a Dee Dee Dee, Go to Church!
The study does not suggest God is smiling on the students, per se. Rather, it identifies several reasons the students do better:
- They have regular contact with adults from various generations who serve as role models.
- Their parents are more likely to communicate with their friends' parents.
- They develop friendships with peers who have similar norms and values.
- They're more likely to participate in extracurricular activities.

Holographic Pastors?
Today on the front page of msn.com is an article called, "Churches start to use hologram pastors" click the link to read up. In short it talks about how mega churches around the country are starting to implement 3D holograms of their pastors in multiple locations around the country to reach more people. The article is appropriately titled, "The Chick-fil-A Church." Why in the world would you want to replace yourself with a video projected preacher to the masses? Yes it would definately draw a crowd but how can a hologram embrace a member? Can it hold a conversation with someone who needs to desperately talk to their pastor?
I'm calling a flag on the play preachers! People need you in the flesh!
This also reminds me of this cartoon..."Isn't that cute...BUT ITS WRONG!!!!"

I Want One!!!
The idea of watching movies inside glasses has been around for some time, but the glasses are still evolving and the picture quality is getting better and better. Today we have the Vuzix glasses that are "made for ipod." These bad boys are definately going on my wishlist! When putting on these light-weight glasses its like you're looking at a 62' TV screen! Imagine, you want to watch the movie 300 you just rented and your wife wants to watch Jon and Kate plus 8...hmmm, where's my video glasses?! Perfect solution!
Alright mike, how much? Uhh...$350.00
I Want One!!!
This is a cool no-emissions electric bike (not to be confused as a scooter). Its $2,500 and gets 20 miles a charge. Charging takes 3-4 hours at any wall outlet. To extend the range all you have to do is pedal, it is a bike! I think its a perfect vehicle to ride around a military base or to my nearby park and ride! Unless you live in Texas!
