Time to Roll

Our days are numbered here in DC. We will soon be PCS-ing (transferring) to California. We will be leaving a little earlier than expected too, we'll be in California by the end of summer.

"What in the world are you going to be doing?"

The RP within the Fleet Marine Force (FMF): The Command Religious Program of each FMF unit is coordinated by the chaplain to meet the needs of assigned personnel. Chaplains and one RPs may be assigned to Marine units. At least one Chaplain and RP are normally assigned to accompany a Battalion when it deploys. The RPs are combatants who help the Chaplains administer to the needs of persons of all faith groups by performing the administrative or religious programming tasks that do not require ordination or licensing. In combat areas, the RPs also provide physical protection to Navy Chaplains, allowing them to carry out their duties and responsibilities as safely as possible.

Whether assigned to a ship or a shore activity, the RP must be able to perform a variety of duties in support of the Command Religious Program. In fact, the RP will directly affect the CRP through programming the religious needs and rights of sea service personnel and their families and by helping the assigned Chaplain in the delivery of ministry.

However, before I cross over to the "green side" (marines) I will be headed to some training called CREST (Combat Readiness Expedtionary Skills Training).

"What are you gonna do there?"

Religious Program Specialist Course Description

In this 40 training-day course, emphasis is on providing security, logistical, and administrative support for a Religious Ministry Team (RMT) delivering religious programs support to Marine Corps operating forces. Any more questions? ...

We can't wait to go! We're ready for some warm weather and i miss seeing the water so i hope we get a place near the ocean! We also can't wait to move into a house! I can't imagine living somewhere where you don't have to climb 4 floors to get in your house! And i can't wait to park my car and swing my door wide open without fear of hitting the car next to me!

California here we come!

Inauguration Day aka Coldest Day of My Life Day!

Ok so i'm finally thawed out enough to relive the moments of the Inauguration a couple days ago, i think it was on the 20th??? Just kidding!
I didn't take too many pictures because my job was to stand still and straight along the parade route all day long until i was relieved by someone else...which only happened a couple times.

I took this picture while we were still on the bus as we passed the capitol.

Note the "security" on top of the building on the right. Nothing feels safer than dozens of barrels pointed in your direction as the President passes!

Here's Pennsylvania Avenue before the parade started, from the bus again.

Here's a huge crowd not minding our bus trying to get through. They were all headed to the parade route to get a glimpse of Obama coming from the White House to the Capitol.

Here's Michael the Sailor Man!

All in all, it was a pretty cool day. Obama passed right in front of me about 20 feet as the crowd roared behind me. I think at that moment we all forgot about how long we had been standing and how cold it was...then it all came back when he was out of sight.
I enjoyed seeing all the bands from all around the country perform. I know a lot of work went into their music preparation and marching and mainly just raising funds to be there at that historic day! I also knew this parade topped any Macy's Day parade or any other major parade this country will ever have, it was an honor just to be there.

Lincolns Navy

Currently Reading: Life in Mr. Lincolns Navy

Pretty good book about life in the Navy back in the day...i definitely wouldn't want to be in THAT Navy! Those guys had it really rough! The living conditions were harsh, and the labor was back breaking! Maybe that's why today we always hear "suck it up" when we complain!

School is for fools!

I think this is the first time my Mac book has failed me. I was all geared up to take my last course for my associates degree and the class i signed up for isn't compatible with my mac. uggghhhh! However, if i upgraded i could run windows on my mac...but that means $129.00 for the software! Booo!

This Gerber's not for babies!

You thought your pocket knife was cool???!!! Imagine whipping this bad boy out! Reminds me of the Crocodile Dundee scene/quote..."thats not a knife...this is a knife."

Snow

I woke up today and there's snow everywhere and it's cold! I'm ready to move! Maybe if marisa was old enough to enjoy the snow I wouldve been happier but today it's a nuisance. I wonder all the time why our first president decided to settle here? Oh well here's to a long ride to work!

A New Past-Time

Marisa can't help but to pick the lint out of her toes anytime she has her socks off! She tried doing it standing up too! She brought up one leg and tried to pick but her balance was a little off on the couch. At least she's not sucker her toes anymore!

Shot Day

Mommy and Marisa both got flu shots today. Everybody survived. Marisa didn't cry that much, maybe because i gave her my phone 5 seconds after and she forgot about the misery! Even though she won't remember them, i hate these days, at least its over!

New Wii Sports Resort

Wii Sports took over as the #1 video game besting Mario, Wii Sports is fun but i've always wished there was more, maybe the ability to go head to head online with other players?

I can't wait until Wii Sports Resorts comes out this year! It looks like its going to be a doozy! Especially the head to head "Star-Wars" battling!
